There’s no shortage of providers offering WordPress care packages in the UK, and the quality varies enormously. Here’s what I’d look for — and what I’d watch out for.
What should be included as standard
- Dedicated WordPress hosting (not shared hosting with thousands of other sites)
- Daily backups stored off-site — not just on the same server
- SSL certificate included and managed for you
- Security scanning and antivirus monitoring
- WordPress core and plugin updates, tested before being applied
- Clear, transparent pricing
The support question is the big one
Can you actually speak to someone when something goes wrong? A lot of providers offer “support” that means submitting a ticket and waiting 24–48 hours. For a small business with a website that’s down, that’s not good enough.
What to ask about support
- Is telephone support available — or just tickets and live chat?
- Who answers the phone — a WordPress specialist or a call centre?
- What are the support hours?
Red flags to watch for
- No clear answer about server location
- Backup frequency vague or unspecified
- Phone support only on the most expensive plan
- Long minimum contracts with high exit fees
How Website Care Packages measures up
UK telephone support is included on every plan — starting with Host Busters at £29/month. You’re not paying extra for the privilege of speaking to a real person.
